If you could string together a number of genre classics into one overly ambitious movie we’d come pretty close to Ghost Machine. When a military team specializing in experimental virtual reality technology decides to have a little midnight training session (off the record) in an old mental hospital, they unleash an evil force who starts to peg them off one at a time. So already, you have formulas for horror and military movies and the rules of VR tech and hallmarks of ghost stories all rolled into one. This low budget euro-flick almost becomes a cool stylistic vehicle for the gore and the camera visuals but misses the mark by a fair margin. Instead, the camp script and lame dialogue take it down pretty fast and it gets written off as yet another shelf warmer.
