Written by David Micheline, Bob Layton and Barry Windsor-Smith with very eighties artwork drawn by Mark D. Bright with Windsor-Smith cleaning-up with far superior art; Armor Wars is a staple of Iron Man from the eighties and I wish it would have stayed there.
The story goes as follows; Tony Stark’s technology has been stolen and is being used in different armors for both villains and heroes around the world. Tony, fresh off his drinking problems, spends the majority of the story wallowing around in self pity, in his underwear and looks like a cross between Ravishing Rick Rude and Rick Savage. I can not describe how boring this trade is. The story drags, the action comes in small doses and then it doesn’t really have any air of excitement.
So unless you’re a real fan of the 80’s style of art and story telling, I can’t recommend this snooze fest.
