Inglourious-Basterds

Since Jonny and I reviewed this film as a podcast episode this past summer, my opinion about Quentin Tarantino’s World War II epic Inglourious Basterds hasn’t changed much. So this review will strictly be for the DVD. I will add this though; as is the case with all of his films, this one does indeed get better with each subsequent viewing.

DISC ONE:

  • Audio Commentary with Director Quentin Tarantino

None. As usual.

  • Extended & Alternate Scenes
  • Nation’s Pride

The complete film within the film. This was actually pretty entertaining and featured Bo Svenson as an American General.

  • Trailers

DISC TWO:

  • Roundtable Discussion with Quentin Tarantino, Brad Pitt and Elvis Mitchell

This is as informative as it gets with this typical Tarantino DVD. Since you will never get QT doing commentary on his own movies, we just have to settle with Actor, Director and former film critic Elvis Mitchell talking about Inglourious Basterds for a 30 minute roundtable.

  • The Making of Nation’s Pride

A four minute mockumentary about the making of a film within the film. This is actually pretty amusing as it features Eli Roth dressed up and acting like “German Director, Alois Von Eichberg”.

  • The Original Inglorious Bastards

Seven minute featurette about the original movie, actor Bo Svenson and director Enzo G. Castellari who both makes cameo appearances in Inglourious Basterds.

  • A Conversation With Rod Taylor

Acting legend Rod Taylor discusses his initial meeting with QT and how he was cast as Winston Churchill in Inlgourious Basterds.

  • And More…
