024 Severed Hand Review

While most people wouldn’t think of a severed limb as a treat for the holidays, this is Halloween, baby! And we go out in style for the nights of darkness and while many of you sad PC lurkers might think of your right hand as your best friend on those long, lonely nights, in horror movies it can also be your worst enemy. (And believe me, you don’t to be tugging on your junk if it went all evil on you!)

Yes, the horror genre as many sub categories, a few of which we plan to explore this season. This sub-genre is one of the most exclusive to the horror field. There are only a few, (I restrained myself from saying “handful”) to speak of and that is just what we’re going to do here. So, sit back and take notes on no less than six creepy, crawling and nail-bitingly mischievous movies that feature severed hands.

    Fun show!

Love love LOVE Cassandra Peterson — Elvira was one of my childhood idols… but for the life of me I cannot remember the severed hand scene in that movie! I’m going to watch it again now to see what you guys were talking about… was hoping for a play by play of the memorable scene!

Re: Addams Family — there was a cartoon that came out just after the first Addams family in the 90s, and then there was a live action show I remember seeing on YTV called “The New Addams Family.” Just looking on IMDB, apparently a couple episodes of “The New Addams Family” had John Astin in them as Grampapa Addams.

Haven’t seen The Beast with Five Fingers but am going to have to check it out as I have a new-found love for Peter Lorre after seeing Casablanca recently (yes, my first time seeing Casablanca, I am that lame). Oh — and I agree with Ro, I’m suspicious of guys named Hilary. Moreso, I’m suspicious of people who name their sons Hilary… and for that matter, who the hell would name their son Ashley??? 😛

You guys forgot to talk about the movie House, which had an awesome scene with William Katt fighting his dead girlfriends severed hand.

…and flushing that hand down the toilet! You’re right. Shame on us for not mentioning that flick. I love House (not the show, but Hugh Laurie still kicks ass.)!

Also I wanted to talk about that episode of Futurama where Fry switches hands with the Robot Devil. I forgot.

Yeah I mentioned that one to Rovin! I guess they already had a full deck (that’s a hand pun right?) of other movies, and just couldn’t squeeze it in 🙁

Loved House! It was also written by Fred Dekker of Monster Squad and Night of the Creeps fame!
